Maria Caulfield took to Twitter a day after the Women and Equalities Committee session to say she was unable to attend as she was with campaigners at a meeting “that had been on the agenda for months”.
The MP, who is also minister for women’s health strategy, tweeted that she was “not a punching bag” and said anyone posting “misleading information” about her would be blocked on the social media platform.
Former Countdown star Vorderman posted a screenshot to Twitter indicating she had been blocked by the government minister, writing, “Maria, show some respect and RESIGN.”
When Ms Caulfield was challenged by another Twitter user about blocking Vorderman, she replied: ‘She didn’t point out any facts. I couldn’t attend yesterday because I saw female campaigners against painful hysteroscopy that had been on the agenda for months.
“I have given alternative dates to the committee and those are the facts.”
The committee mentioned it had invited Ms Caulfield to seem earlier than members to debate the federal government’s plans for measures to fight menopause at work ‘however the minister declined the invitation’.
Vorderman had beforehand mentioned she was “completely disgusted” by the phrases and actions of two authorities ministers, together with Ms Caulfield, when the tv presenter herself appeared earlier than MPs to debate menopause and the office.
