Comic Relief viewers were amazed to see Sir Tony Robinson back on their screen as Baldrick.
In case it’s a bit ahead of your time, Baldrick is the name of several fictional characters from the BBC’s long-running historical comedy TV series Blackadder.
Each serves as Edmund Blackadder’s servant and sidekick, acting as a foil to the main character.
Sir Tony reprized his role of Blackadder for the first time in over 20 years for this year’s Red Nose Day call-up, having starred as Blackadder’s valet and sidekick from 1983 to 1989 and in a number of subsequent specials.
Now 76, the actor proved he still has it, when he read a Cbeebies bedtime story from Richard Curtis, in his role and dressed in his ragged clothes.
“Weird how dressing Tony Robinson as Baldrick makes him look 40 years younger again?!” one stunned viewer tweeted on the show.
Agree, one other complimented, “Baldrick seems to be like he hasn’t aged.”
Baldrick! How I’ve missed you!’ exclaimed one other.
One other joked, “Baldrick studying me a bedtime story is one thing I by no means realized I wanted.”
