The solar is shining, the temperatures are getting hotter and sun shades are being placed on – that may solely imply one factor: the brand new vary of Love Island is just around the corner.
Fans of the ITV2 reality dating show will know that this time of year brings with it a villa full of new contestants looking for love in the summer 2023 series from the much-discussed sensation.
Many will look forward to spending their summer weeknights catching up on all the drama, romance, and (hopefully) multiple twists and turns as host Maya Jama opens the doors to another sizzling series.
So now that we all know that summer really doesn’t really start until Love Island kicks off, when can fans expect the villa to hit screens again?
When could Love Island 2023 start? Rumored summer start date
While no date has yet been confirmed by ITV, the rumored launch date is said to be 5 June.
A source told The Sun that: “Love Island is launching on June 5, just as people are getting ready to enjoy their summers.
‘ITV has already lined up with the islanders heading to the show’s villa in Mallorca.
“The cast will be flying out at the end of next month, ready for the show which starts in just eight weeks.”
The source added that the series will run for eight weeks and that Maya was “anxious” to get to work.
They explained, “Having her on board has given Love Island a real boost and ratings are expected to rise.”
The summer series follows not long after the 2023 winter series has ended, the last episode of which aired in March.
That series – filmed in South Africa instead of Mallorca – was won by Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan were crowned last year’s main summer series winners.
Producers will be hoping for better reception for the main series as the show fell to its lowest ratings in seven years in January, even though Maya Jama proved a hit with fans in her first series replacing previous presenter Laura Whitmore.
Despite this, the winter show is reportedly being brought back by ITV2 next year.
When could the Love Island 2023 summer series end?
The series is expected to run for a total of eight weeks.
So, doing a quick math, if the show does indeed start on June 5, we can expect the finale to be on July 31.
Rumors about who will join the show are already starting to heat up as anticipation for the series grows.
Among the rumors are Andre Furtado, an economics graduate, and actress Molly Marsh, none other than the daughter of Coronation Street star Janet Marsh.
