It has been fairly a begin Love Island summer 2023, with girls and boys entering the villa together and being paired by the public vote – a stir that caused some backlash.
Just after Winter Love Island 2023 filmed in South Africa, we’re now in a different villa, a different country and with a whole cast of new islanders all ready to get down to business.
We still get to know series 10’s George “I thought a casanova was a car” Fensom, “gas superhero” Mitchel Taylor, semi-pro footballer Tyrique Hyde, Scottish model Ella Thomas, Turkish tooth-loving Jess Harding and the rest of the lineup.
Popular presenter Maya Jama – who made her debut in the ITV2 winter series – is back in her showstopping outfits and off to a strong start, delivering a challenge to the girls in the first episode.
So when Love Island Summer 2023 kicks off, where exactly is the villa?
Here’s what you need to know.
Where is the Love Island villa?
It is located near Sant Llorenc des Cardassar, where it was built specifically for the 2022 series, and is located in the east of the Spanish island.
The villa is approximately 55 minutes drive from Palma, the capital of Mallorca, to the west and Alcudia to the north.
For the winter series, production moved to South Africa in the southern hemisphere, where it was summer.
How many villas have there been?
In 2005, the Celebrity Love Island original series was filmed in Fiji, on Armstrong Island.
The revamped show returned in 2015 and for the next two series it was set in a Majorcan villa in Ses Salines owned by a French businessman.
From 2017-2021, production moved to a new rental villa in Sant Llorenc des Cardassar, very close to the current one.
So the latest villa is the fourth iteration, apart from the South African villa used for the winter series.
