The phoenix is one of many rarest and most magical creatures on the earth Hogwarts Legacy and of course that means it’s pretty hard to capture one…

Magical creatures are an essential part of the Wizarding World, with Hogwarts Legacy giving aspiring Magizoologists the chance to rescue them and keep them in their own terrariums.

From hairy kneazles to unicorns and hippogriffs, you can find all sorts of beasts when you explore the game’s open world, but no phoenix.

However, there is a way to get one and collect its precious phoenix feathers, by taking up house-elf Deek’s offer to go on a side quest.

How do you catch a phoenix in Hogwarts Legacy?

After unlocking the Room of Requirement, you’ll be able to access a series of side quests with Deek, where he’ll teach you how to capture beasts and give you a sack to contain them before releasing them. your terrarium.

To refresh your memory, you can access your vivarium through the Room of Requirement and keep up to 12 beasts there.

When you complete the Foal of the Dead quest to breed thestrals and learn how to breed beasts, you’ll get the Phoenix Rising quest – provided you’re far enough into the story and you’ve also reached level 20.

Deek will ask you to go find the legendary bird and tell you that it is located in the south of the map, near the Phoenix Mountain Cave Floo Flame in the Poidsear Coast region.

Once you arrive, you’ll need to fend off poachers and spiders, so be prepared. Defeat them and go to the top of the mine near the nest, where you can just grab your sack and catch the phoenix.

Be careful when you exit the mine though, as a giant spider will be waiting to catch you in its web.

You are then free to return to your Room of Requirement and release the phoenix into your vivarium.

Unfortunately, the phoenix is the only beast you can’t breed, as there’s only one you can capture and keep in play.

Since many players have reportedly seen a basilisk lurking in Hogwarts castle, keeping a phoenix could be quite useful, as its tears are the only known antidote to basilisk venom.

It’s still unclear exactly how to make the basilisk appear or if there’s a special Chamber of Secrets quest, but more information is likely to come to light as players clock in more and more hours.
