To be able to get a house she’d need to preserve eternally, Maureen primarily constructed a wholly new house linked to and situated in entrance of her previous house, although that might not be apparent from the skin. It was necessary to her to maintain the outside conventional, within the fashion of previous Sag Harbor clapboard properties, so the outside was designed and constructed with that conventional fashion in thoughts.

Inside, Maureen designed interiors to really feel calm, comfy and quiet. “I like the sensation that if you are available in, [one takes] a deep sigh,” she says. “So I used plenty of white, calm colours and a few wooden tones.” She paired these shades with splashes of black. “I like black; black is my favourite colour,” she says. “I exploit black as a lot as doable with out it feeling too onerous or too chilly.”

BEFORE: The yellow was not a part of the palette Maureen desired.
