In scenes aired on Monday night, the 25-year-old semi-pro footballer called on his friends so he could make the grand gesture following the fallout from Movie Night, which revealed his affair with Tink Reading.
With the help of Sammy Root, Leah was encouraged to sit on the deck while the other islanders gathered outside.
Montel then took a seat on the terrace where he then read a note he had written from his phone apologizing for his behaviour.
While the grand gesture went down well with Leah, who forgave him, viewers at home vented their frustrations on social media.
“Not the phone letter apology again WHY DO WE HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY YEAR,” one said.
“Is it a tradition to write these Love Island apologies every year?” another demanded. “I need to sleep through this.”
A third slammed, “Every year I’m forced to sit out one of these STUPID apology letters.”
Viewers on Love Island noticed the same apology in February when farmer Will Younger referred to as on fellow contestants to assist him apologize to Jessie Wynter after Casa Amor.
Throughout the episode, he gave every islander a line to inform Jessie so he may make his emotions clear.
Will introduced her onto the patio and stated on the time, “Jessie, I believe we have talked loads and I simply wish to present you the way I really feel.”
The guy islanders then instructed Will’s gushing traces, together with “I like how secure and safe you make me really feel” and “I like how variety and pure you might be.”
Love Island continues on Tuesday at 9pm on ITV2.
